We have a number of positions for Key Workers within our new Derby Drug and Alcohol Service.

This is a frontline role supporting individuals to make positive changes in their lives. You will work directly with people to reduce harm, improve wellbeing and support recovery, delivering high-quality, person-centred interventions. 

About the role 

As a Key Worker, you will hold a caseload and provide a range of structured interventions to people accessing the service. You will work in a trauma-informed way, supporting individuals to understand their substance use, reduce risk and build sustainable recovery.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and with a range of partner agencies to ensure people receive the right support at the right time. 

Key responsibilities include: 

• Managing a caseload and delivering one-to-one interventions and support. 
• Completing triage, assessments, risk assessments and care plans based on individual need. 
• Providing harm reduction advice and interventions, including naloxone and needle exchange. 
• Supporting individuals to access treatment, including prescribing and detox pathways. 
• Identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns in line with local and national guidance. 
• Facilitating group work and promoting peer and mutual aid support. 
• Working in partnership with other agencies to support holistic care. 
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records on the case management system. 
• Undertaking outreach and engaging individuals who may find it difficult to access services. 

About you 

We are looking for someone with experience of working with people who use drugs and alcohol, or other vulnerable groups. You will be compassionate, motivated and able to build strong relationships to support engagement and change. 

You will have:

• Experience of working directly with individuals in a health, social care or support setting. 
• Knowledge of harm reduction and substance use treatment approaches. 
• Experience of delivering one-to-one support and/or group work. 
• Understanding of safeguarding and risk management.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. 
• Strong communication and IT skills. 
• Ability to manage a caseload and prioritise workload.
