Description
The Big Life Group is recruiting three Drug and Alcohol Assertive Outreach Workers, with two vacancies in Salford and one in Trafford.
As an Assertive Outreach Worker, you will provide creative, flexible and person-centred support to people experiencing problems with drugs or alcohol who may be difficult to engage or have become disconnected from services.
Working across community and criminal justice settings, you will proactively build trusted relationships, help people engage or re-engage with treatment, and support them to develop recovery goals and build positive futures.
You will work closely with prisons, probation, housing providers, homelessness services, pharmacies, needle exchanges and community organisations to ensure people receive coordinated support that reflects their individual needs.
The role will include:
- Identifying and engaging people who are not currently accessing drug and alcohol services
- Re-engaging people who have become disconnected from treatment
- Delivering one-to-one and group interventions
- Using evidence-based and motivational approaches to support behaviour change
- Helping people access structured treatment and other relevant services
- Promoting peer support, volunteering, mutual aid and positive family relationships
- Supporting continuity of care when people move between services
- Maintaining accurate client records and identifying safeguarding concerns
The successful candidates will have experience of working with people affected by substance use and within, or alongside, criminal justice services. They will be confident managing a varied workload, working with partner organisations and supporting people with complex needs.
No formal qualifications are required. Relevant experience, strong communication skills and a commitment to learning are valued. Applications from people with relevant lived experience are welcomed.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
The Big Life Group offers 25 days’ annual leave, increasing to 30 days after five years, plus a day off for your birthday, wellbeing support, flexible working and regular learning opportunities.
