TLC Rehab is a London-based residential rehab service, offering medically managed detox and an eclectic approach to addiction treatment.
From heartfelt beginnings, TLC Rehab is redefining residential rehab with compassion, innovation, and a holistic focus that empowers clients to rebuild their lives.
Since recovering from drug and alcohol addiction in 2004, it’s been Jitesh Sanghani’s dream to run a drug and rehabilitation service. Inspired by his counsellors, he regularly revisits the rehab centre where he received treatment, to stay connected to his recovery family. When he met James Peacock, who has worked in the addiction sector for over two decades, their passions collided – and the first TLC Rehab centre in London was born. ‘Our shared goal was to create a service that stands out from the crowd,’ says James. ‘By using an innovative and holistic model, we could incorporate a range of psychotherapeutic interventions to deliver truly inspirational treatment.’
TRANSFORMATIVE APPROACH
Moving beyond the traditional 12-Step model, TLC focuses on deep therapeutic work, including schema therapy, which helps clients identify and heal unhelpful patterns formed early in life. ‘We also integrate Dr Gabor Maté’s “compassionate inquiry” approach,’ says James. ‘It helps uncover the connection between trauma and addiction, fostering self-awareness and emotional healing.’

‘Recovery at TLC Rehab is about transformation, not just abstinence,’ emphasises Jitesh. ‘Our goal is to address the underlying emotional pain the addiction has masked and in doing so help clients reconnect with their ‘authentic self.’
TRANQUIL ENVIRONMENT
Located in the leafy London suburb of North Finchley, the rehab centre boasts a serene, 100foot garden providing a tranquil space to relax, unwind, or engage in outdoor yoga, breathwork, or light exercise. ‘Every morning, we go for a daily wellbeing walk to Friary Park at the end of the road,’ explains Jitesh. ‘The walk-and-talk activity is a great way to start the day – it’s good for both the mind and body.’
The weekly schedule also includes yoga sessions, art therapy, and support from a nutritionist, with every client receiving a minimum of two one-to-one counselling sessions per week.

24-HOUR MEDICAL CARE
TLC’s 24-hour nursing support sets a critical standard for safe detox and holistic health management. ‘Having medical professionals onsite around the clock assures our stakeholders that while someone is in our care, all of their healthcare needs will be met effectively,’ says James.
COMMUNITY BUILT ON TRUST
TLC’s relaxed and compassionate approach fosters a sense of trust and community. ‘We focus on striking the right balance between the intensity of the counselling programme and the freedom clients need to rediscover themselves and do things that truly matter to them,’ explains Jitesh.
By providing a safe, supportive environment, our rehab in London empowers clients to rebuild their lives with clarity and purpose. ‘Most clients tell us it’s the best rehab they’ve been to – with a genuinely person-centred approach, we help them develop autonomy and independence.’

TAILORED THERAPIES FOR LASTING RECOVERY
For clients staying three months or longer, TLC offers additional therapeutic options, including photo therapy and equine therapy, delivered locally by experts. ‘If these aren’t the right fit, we’ll work with clients to explore other options, such as EMDR and hypnotherapy, to tailor an individual package of care,’ says James.
A REAL-LIFE JOURNEY OF TRANSFORMATION
One client’s journey at TLC illustrates what the centre’s holistic and person-centred approach can achieve. Amy arrived at the centre after years of battling addiction, compounded by chronic pain and complex emotional trauma. As she reflects, ‘I carried guilt, shame and the belief that my addiction defined me.’
On arrival, Amy engaged in the core programme, medically supervised detox, one-to-one psychotherapy, and creative and physical therapies, but what made the difference was the integration of deeper therapeutic work. Using schema therapy and compassionate inquiry, the team helped Amy trace not just the symptoms of her addiction, but the ‘why’ behind them: the unhealed emotional wounds, the patterns of avoidance and self-sabotage, and the missing parts of her identity.
The setting supported her transformation: daily wellbeing walks in the garden, yoga or art therapy to help her reconnect with her body and creativity, and a safe peer community where vulnerability was welcomed, not judged. Over 12 weeks she began to rebuild trust in herself, manage her chronic pain, and shift from a mindset of “simply staying clean” to one of “building a meaningful life”.
Today, Amy is living substance-free, engaged in meaningful work, and continued to access after-care and community support via TLC’s follow-up programme. As she puts it: ‘This wasn’t about getting through a detox, it was about becoming someone – someone I’m proud of.
Her story shows how TLC’s emphasis on transformation over mere abstinence truly plays out. It underscores the value of providing medical, psychological and creative support and an environment where healing is not just ‘ending use’ but ‘starting to live’.

SUPPORT BEYOND REHAB
Being based in London, TLC benefits from excellent transport links, making aftercare accessible for graduates. ‘Ongoing connection is fundamental to successful long-term outcomes,’ says Jitesh. TLC provides weekly follow-up calls to complement their aftercare group – ‘We want to be part of people’s journey, guiding them through challenges and celebrating their achievements along the way.’
TRULY LIFE CHANGING
‘We spent a long time coming up with a name,’ says James. ‘TLC initially stood for The London Clinic, but we soon decided a more accurate reflection of what we represent is Truly Life Changing. That’s what we want this service to be for everyone connected to us.’
