The Anti-Stigma Network: Three Years of Challenging Stigma

anti-stigma networkThe Anti-Stigma Network recently marked three years since their launch.

What started as a conversation about the harm caused by stigma has grown into a national network working to challenge discrimination around drug and alcohol use and promote dignity, compassion and fairness across systems, services and communities.

Over the past three years, we’ve been continually inspired by the people who make up this network. Whether you’ve attended a webinar, shared a post, contributed a blog, used one of our resources, or simply followed and supported the work. Thank you.

This movement has always been collaborative, shaped by lived and living experience, partnership and a shared belief that change is possible.

Together, we’ve:

  • Built a network of 1,600 members and 31 organisations, representing more than 10,000 staff
  • Delivered webinars, training and resources reaching thousands across sectors
  • Increased confidence to address stigma from 47.5% to 74% through training
  • Published more than 60 blogs reaching over 40,000 readers
  • Developed partnerships across health, justice, local government and academia
  • Created free practical tools, including our Language Guide, to support real-world change

While we’re proud of how far the network has come, we also know the work is far from over. Stigma still shapes how people are treated, supported and understood every day across healthcare, housing, criminal justice, employment and communities.
