The Role

This role will be primarily focused on our most vulnerable cohorts in society.

Working with key partners and stakeholders across the locality to promote prevention, set direction, implement strategies and inform workplans that impact the health inequalities of those individuals who often face multiple disadvantage and struggle to navigate support and access to service provision.

This key priority group may experience a combination of trauma, homelessness, substance use (including alcohol dependency), mental health issues, domestic abuse and may have a history of criminal justice system involvement.

You will work with others to develop and manage associated grant expenditure profiles, strategy developments and you will maintain a live Needs Assessment.

This role is responsible for the strategic commissioning and quality assurance of Bolton’s Substance Use Services across the life course.

The role will also consider other interdependent work areas such as; Gambling, Suicide Prevention, Public Health elements Adult Safeguarding, Violence and Community Safety, and Offender Health.

About You

You will provide specialist advice and expertise on Public Health policy and practice to individuals and organisation across all sectors, ensuring evidence-based action to promote health and well-being and tackle health inequalities.

You will contribute to the development of the Public Health Function Plans, managing performance and risk for the delegated programme area of Drug & Alcohol commissioning.

You will lead, develop and sustain partnership networks that span professional and organisational boundaries to deliver health outcomes for the most vulnerable cohorts in Bolton.

You will lead on the key public health areas that include multiple disadvantage, violence and community safety, criminal justice & offender health and adult safeguarding.

You will work across the department’s staffing matrix, planning and managing the day-to-day workload of a team of public health practitioners ensuring regular supervision, performance reviews, appraisal and support with continued professional development.

Role specifics – Full driving licence, Master’s level qualification in a public health related discipline e.g. Master’s in Public Health or working towards. Interview date: TBC
