Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole charity WithYou presents Peter Lee-Overy, and Debbie Millward, with volunteer awards for going above and beyond supporting people struggling with drugs and alcohol.
WithYou – a national charity supporting more than 100,000 people with problems with drugs, alcohol and mental health across England and Scotland – has recognised the outstanding volunteers for their exceptional contributions to the service.
Debbie Millward, says: ‘I have thoroughly enjoyed the last year and it was lovely to be the recipient of an award, very much unexpected and a lovely surprise.
‘I have been involved in quite a few community events, bringing awareness to the services WithYou offers, alongside helping out with carers of loved ones who are struggling with substance abuse, and with recovery check ins. I’m just happy to help out where I can.’
Peter Lee-Overy says: ‘I was really pleasantly surprised to win the Staff Impact Award. I am very grateful for everyone’s kind words and for the recognition. I thoroughly enjoyed my time supporting the Homelessness Team and I’m pleased my housing knowledge has been a useful support to the staff on the Housing Team too.’
Louise Stewart, director of volunteering at WithYou, says: ‘This award is a small way of saying thank you for something that means an enormous amount to the clients we work with. We’re incredibly lucky to have Debbie and Petey.
‘If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, I’d really encourage you to get in touch – you’d be amazed at what a few hours a week can do for someone else, and for yourself.’
