Birchwood @ Kaleidoscope House is a purpose-built facility set in over 9 acres of beautiful grounds at Heswall, Wirral, designed to provide the most comfortable and supportive experience possible when detoxing and recovering from substances misuse. Residents can recover and relax in peaceful and tranquil surroundings that are just a short walk from the Wirral coastline and its amazing beaches. With close access to the Wirral walkway and many miles of beautiful countryside, Birchwood is the ideal environment to start the recovery journey and find a new way to live.
Our offering
We provide medically managed detoxification packages from drugs and alcohol, each tailored to the individual and designed to provide the most comfortable and effective detox possible. There are 15, single occupancy, ensuite bedrooms with double beds and smart TVs. We are skilled and experienced in the detoxification of those with chronic health conditions and complex needs, including detoxification and stabilisation of pregnant women.
We also provide a 10 bed Therapeutic Community residential rehabilitation service for 3-6 month treatment programmes. We have an on-site mental health practitioner and an extensive group work programme that encompasses 1:1 counselling, therapeutic activities, access to mutual aid groups and a structured timetable designed to put recovery at the heart of what we do.

Birchwood is a safe and supportive environment for those with addiction, trauma and mental health issues. Our dedicated, professional, skilled and experienced team are experts in supporting individuals through detox and rehabilitation. Nursing and support workers staff our service 24 hours a day.
