9:00 am: Alcohol use in the cost-of-living crisis

June 22, 2023

Thu, 22 Jun 2023
09:00am - 10:00am
Online

Join the Institute of Alcohol Studies and Director of Public Health for Gateshead, Alice Wiseman, to hear from Dr Philip Broadbent (Specialty Registrar in Public Health Medicine) and Holly Wood (With You) on how the cost-of-living crisis is impacting public health, particularly in relation to levels of alcohol harm.

Dr Philip Broadbent will present findings from his research into the public health implications of the cost-of-living crisis and discuss what policy approaches are needed to protect health and avoid exacerbating health inequalities.

Holly Wood will then discuss the results from research commissioned by alcohol and mental health charity With You on how alcohol consumption habits have changed due to the rising cost-of-living, putting UK adults at greater risk of alcohol dependence.

This event is for public health professionals, researchers, healthcare workers, civil servants, NGOs, health agencies etc. If you or your organisation receives funding from the alcohol industry (alcohol producers, retailers, trade associations, Social Aspect Public Relations Organisations (SAPROs), & Business-Interest NGOs) please do not attend.
