Entitled “Public House 2030: Will pubs still be here at the end of the decade?”, the workshop is being held on Friday 26th April at Northumbria’s Newcastle Business School. It will include several guest speakers, including Easington MP and former Vice-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Save the Pub Group Grahame Morris and Dr Liz Hind, publican licensee and consultant. |

Professorial Lecture by Professor Andrew McAuleyProfessorial Lecture by Professor Andrew McAuleyApril 30, 2024 Tue, 30 Apr 2024 5:00pm - 7:30pm Join us on April 30, as Professor Andrew McAuley, gives a public lecture on the changing epidemiology of injecting drug use in Scotland over the past 25 years and its impact on related harms such as overdose and blood-borne viruses. Come along to hear about Scotland’s current injecting drug use landscape, the events that have shaped it, and the future directions it might take. Professor McAuley states that “injecting drug use in Scotland is a major public health issue and has been the subject of intense political debate in recent years. Drug-related deaths in Scotland are at globally high rates and were recently declared a public health emergency.” Andrew, will discuss his career working between both Public Health Scotland and Glasgow Caledonian University, focusing on his 19 years working in the substance use field. This lecture will appeal to professionals working in the public health, substance use and blood borne virus fields. Also, members of the public interested in areas of high-profile policy debate and people who use drugs, their families and friends. |
