Recovery Evolution Festival 2013

Recovery Evolution is a celebration of recovery, Fritton Lake providing a breathtaking and thought provoking venue for this abstinent event.

This family friendly, weekend long event offers something for everyone; Great music, art workshops, forestry workshops, mutual aid groups, children’s entertainment and much, much more!


There will also be keynote speeches from those within the Recovery field, these Recovery Champions include:-

  • Simon Jenkins, founder of Recovery Now; a  Recovery activist,  Simon has been a person in recovery for 27 years.
  • Ian Young, Founder of Sober Services and author of “It’s Not About Me!”, Confessions of a Recovered Outlaw Addict

Recovery Evolution is an esoteric festival that transcends old paradigms,
creating a fun and healthy solution to addiction. Through live music,
meditation, artistry and recovery workshops, a modern approach to recovery
can blossom. Recovery Evolution provides this! I appreciate the
opportunity to guide mindfulness meditation and pranayama yoga at this
fantastic event. I will be talking about the new book, ‘Manifest Your
Bliss: A Spiritual Guide to Inner Peace’, assisting people to uncover

During the weekend there will be a vast array of food available including:-

  • Bacon Rolls
  • Vegetable and Halloumi Kebabs
  • Hot dogs and burgers

Why not tuck into the Fritton House Hotel’s legendary Hog Roast

There will also be speciality world food stalls including Thai.

 

 

Event Schedule 

FRIDAY 21ST JUNE:-

Gates open at 3pm, time to unpack the tent and set up!

5.30pm Simon Jenkins- setting the scene for the 3 day event

6pm to 8pm– Join in one of the many mutual aid groups on offer, have an impromptu gathering with like minded individuals, share experiences or visit the art and crafts tent

8pm Celebrate in true style with Friday night’s line up:-

8pm– KODETA- Drenched in Hard-Rock, reeking of experimentalism and displaying a sizeable scene of drum & bass scar

9pm– THE THINKING MEN- Blues, Folk, Country, alternative rock

10pm– DUMBFOUNDUS- An eclectic mix of many styles

 

SATURDAY 22ND JUNE:-

Early am – Robin Hern will be facilitating a gathering for the Summer Solstice.

8am– Wake up to a bacon roll, join in one of the mutual aid groups or get involved in one of the many arts and crafts activities, Saturday’s activities include card making, design an piece of artwork or have a go at origami.For the kids there’s a forestry workshop.

9am – Christopher Dines facilitates guided meditation and talks about his latest book “Manifest your Bliss”.

10am– make the most of the fabulous surroundings by joining the organised swim

10am to 4pm – the Green Light Trust- Forestry Workshop

12pm– tuck in to one of the many foods on offer, explore the glorious surroundings or browse around the “Recovery Stuff” stall

2pm- THE MUSIC STARTS!!

2pm– WELCOME TO PEEPSWORLD- an acoustic mix complete with stylophone

3pm– EASTVIEW

4pm– FREYA ROY-  Singer/songwriter/guitarist from Suffolk

5pm– BROTHER DE WOLF

6pm– GRACIE WRIGHT- Singer/songwriter with a sound compared to Norah Jones

7pm– RIVERS-the five piece Norfolk based Melodic/Indie/Alternative Rock outfit

8pm– CRUMBS FOR COMFORT-East Anglian Nu-folk band 

9pm– BENJAMIN BLOOM- melodic piano

10pm– SOLKO- the seven piece fusion dub/rock band from Suffolk 

11pm– Share experiences with others or head to bed

Saturday’s Origami workshop recognises that as we progress in our recovery it is very easy to become bogged down by the difficulties we face in our lives. In this workshop we will consider what it means to be in recovery, and through quiet interaction and the simple process of writing, discussion and paper folding, we will remember who we are and what we are doing. During the course of the day our pieces will be hung together for all to see.

 

SUNDAY 23RD JUNE:-

8am– wake up to a bacon roll, visit the arts and crafts tent or join in one of the mutual aid groups. This is an ideal opportunity to visit one of the many recovery orientated stalls.

11am– JUNKSHOP POETS – a duo inspired by artists like Joe Strummer, Billy Bragg, Morrissey and Paul Weller.

12pm-MISS LISA AMBROSE – singer/songwriter with an acoustic indie flavour

1pm– DOVE & BOWEEVIL- a Blues duo

2pm– Ian Young – closing thoughts
