COVID Vaccinations for people with a drug problem

For people using drugs particularly respiratory system depressants like opioids, or who may have chronic respiratory health issues, COVID19 is a significant risk for serious illness, hospitalisation and death. It is crucial that people in these situations are vaccinated and yet services have sometimes struggled to prioritise vaccination for people at risk.

Katy MacLeod from SDF will discuss attitudes to COVID-19 among people with a history of problem drug use. Sharon Hutchison of Glasgow Caledonian University/Public Health Scotland will share the insights from her significant research in this area and give a clear picture of the patterns of vaccination in this at risk group. This webinar will also hear examples of good practice from Lisa Ross of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde who has been working with people affected by homelessness and problem drug use.
