The Forward Trust have been awarded a grant for 12 months for a small young person’s engagement project at HMP Elmley and HMP Rochester.
The project will deliver a Connection and Engagement service for 18 – 27 year olds who are due to leave a secure setting and require support with emotional and mental health issues and will be returning to the Swale or Medway area.
The post holder will deliver a range of supportive and motivational interventions both prior to release and in the community to support sustained engagement. Engagement apprentices will be developed to work alongside the project. These will have lived experience of statutory service support and have an understanding of challenges around mental health.
The post holder will be expected to work closely with the Youth Justice apprentices currently employed by KCC and Kent & Medway Violence Reduction Unit who are working on community engagement, as well as other existing networks of service users.
