Are you passionate about supporting people on their journey to recovery from substance misuse?

The Bridges, Forward’s residential treatment centre in Hull, is looking for a dedicated Addictions Counsellor with a minimum Level 4 counselling qualification to join our Treatment Team.

We provide structured 3–6-month programmes for adults committed to abstinence, using evidence-based approaches like the 12-step model, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), and “Seeking Safety.” Over 20 years, we’ve built a thriving recovery culture, and we want you to help it grow.

What You’ll Do as an Addictions Counsellor:

  • Manage a caseload, creating tailored recovery plans and risk assessments.
  • Deliver structured group sessions and individual 1:1 support.
  • Provide a full range of psycho-social interventions to meet client needs.
  • Support reintegration into the community, helping residents build sustainable recovery.
  • Oversee admissions, accompany clients on external activities, and supervise medication self-administration.
  • Carry out drug and alcohol testing, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively across the team.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum Level 4 counselling qualification with practical experience.
  • Understanding of holistic recovery needs, beyond immediate therapeutic support
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Creative, proactive, and solution-focused team players who put service users first.
  • Ability to work flexibly across services and maintain high professional standards.

At The Bridges, you’ll make a real difference in people’s lives while being part of a supportive, learning-focused environment.

You’ll work with a team committed to innovation, excellence, and building sustainable recovery outcomes, and you’ll have access to ongoing training to help you grow professionally.

This is your chance to contribute to Hull’s wider recovery community and be part of a service that genuinely changes lives.
